wabuf
I seriously need to overhaul my storage configuration and will probably begin with Windows 10. Not sure about the software raids, so I won't be taking advantage of the improvements on that, haha. In 8.1, my software raid on my 2 and 1.5 TB drives went south and could only be opened in a sketchy, underdeveloped tool in a linux terminal. Was too close... This will likely take place in a new build. Hopefully something lighter than 70lbs. and quieter/cooler than a jet engine.
Canga
My new build is coming soon and my gameplan to get windows 10 ASAP is this. Step 1. Download Windows 8.1 Professional off their website and put it on a flashdrive. Step 2. Purchase the OS key off of a website for an affordable price ~30 bucks. Step 3. Boot computer for the first time to Windows 8.1 Step 4. Upgrade to Windows 10 immediately. This will work right? Or is there a more efficent way to do it? That should work, however after the upgrade your original key 8.1 key will not work for full reinstall. I believe Win 10 becomes tied to your Microsoft account in the the event you need to reinstall it. /offtopic So I really like 10 so far! nothing I have broke as far as I'm aware, wasn't expecting that! Canga
I'm writing this from my new computer with integrated graphics (GPU comes tomorrow!) My plan worked perfectly and I'm running a legitimate version of windows 8.1 for 30 dollars and was just given then ability to update to windows 10. Hype! Hype! Hype! Now if only I can get my wireless adaptor to stop flashing like a maniac. Update: I installed afterburner and it looks like I'm getting 33 - 35c in the processor area, but what was really funny is that just by viewing afterburners gui I use 100% of my video usage. I need a GPU pronto!
Fatt_matt
I wouldn't wish integrated graphics on my worst enemy. good luck with that, I still remember the pains of only having a laptop with intel integrated graphics 2000. It was terrible. That now 4 year old laptop now has windows 10 and somehow works better. 10 must be way lighter than 7.
