Iconomy

While I feel the Iconomy mod can work, it can also fall into the deadly pitfall ours has. :o As most of you probably already know, due to the high compounding interest rate of non-bank users, certain players such as *cough cough*, zoa, have managed to amass unrealistically high amounts of money up to 150,000 bucks. This is inflation at its finest, and it normally would'nt be a problem, but in this situation, players who do not spend as much time on the server, or have foolishly spent there money like me, 8-) have been largely left in the shadows. So basically, diamonds are worth 70 cr bucks for most of the players, and so all of the players can purchase them at that price, even zoa, who would have to buy 2140 of my diamonds at said price for spend his fourtune

ok i think i really overanalyzed this whole thing, but basically we need to get the bank interest working

and i think this might be a really usefull guide for setting up the economy better, and maybe for paraphrasing and putting onto signs at spawn for everyone to read. - http://thebattlecraft.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=658

Better yet, lets make this a true economy--there is no interest, only the exchange of bills. Lets evenly divide one lump sum of cash for every player, and then each player has to create jobs for other people to spend money on. Therefore, the money will always keep flowing as players need certain tasks. Mission accomplished...

Wait, these players are human controlled? Nevermind...

Honestly, why is having large amount of money bad for the rest of the community? It just means the players who stay on longer are contributing more to the community or something like that...

well as far as i know, the bank interest doesnt work. i set the option to set interest to affect banks, but it still did it for the players, when it does work, it will be applied imediately

and i dont plan on doing anything with my money, ill probably delete 99% of it soon

Don't forget about the money multiplier! If Zoa is technically the money mint, any amount of money Zoa injects into the community will multiplied at least by 50%. I'm guessing there if there is no bank interest and money technically cannot be lost, then the money injected will be reused several times over causing massive inflation anyway.

well mythil, since i realise this is a flaw, i can technically just "delete" the money from my account, so the 150+K will just be gone forever, i dont plan on buying anything from anyone till that happens

Ok some changes to the economy:

Interest rate @ 2% once a day online only. (Login once a day and you'll get 2% interest).

Banks should earn interest as well as players (so regardless of where your money is stored interest is yours for now until iConomy gets it set to banks only)

As for the players with large amounts of money, there's no harm in it atm. What I plan on doing is fueling the economy with a stimulus for each player (buying spree of some sorts).

Also, I think we need a price floor set on all precious metals... They will be as follow (selling below will issue a fine of the issuing price to the SERVER account). You will have a week to change prices if you fall below the price ceiling.

Item | Minimum Price

Diamonds | 1500 CRB

Gold | 500 CRB

Mossy Cobblestone | 125 CRB

Obsidian | 100 CRB

Really interesting thoughts guys.

And Coaster, I think that may work really well. But we should also think about possible increasing the buying price of land, due to the massive inflation that has taken place. I think this will work though :D
