Shaw_ShankD
Time for one of "Rhino's Updates." Just wondering whats goin' on with everyone. Me? I'm finished of school... for now. I graduated from Junior High yesterday (Tuesday) with honors and a 90% average and am moving onto high school in September. :s Got a good part time job to make teh greenbacks at a coffee shop called Robin's Donuts. Unfortunately I no longer can go on Minecraft due to my PC being unable to run it. So I've decided to start saving up for a laptop to use for my schoolwork, social networking and minecrafting. Oh yeah by the way does anybody know of a good laptop for that kind of stuff? Don't want a crappy one or a really overpriced one, thanks. Also when I try to run Minecraft on my PC (Family's) I get the error video card drivers are outdated (or something like that) there is also no way to update from control panel, could it be the amount of RAM? Because it only has 1GB :/ also I use Windows 7, any help is appreciated, thanks Well if you read all this I thank you and would like to know how everyones life is going. One last thing to everyone. Have a great summer! EDIT: Here's the error exactly word for word- Bad video card drivers! ----------------------- Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode. This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers. --- BEGIN ERROR REPORT 7fe0271 -------- Generated 6/27/12 7:12 PM Minecraft: Minecraft 1.2.5 OS: Windows 7 (x86) version 6.1 Java: 1.6.0_29, Sun Microsystems Inc. wabuf
Ohai Rhino! Good to hear things are well with school and life. Not so good to hear your troubles with running Minecraft. ): Perhaps try: Updating Java (7) or better. Manually finding and installing drivers for your family's PC graphics card (if applicable). Or possibly try running Debian or Ubuntu Linux on a VM for the purposes of having a native Java environment (sometimes you're able to run it without GPU drivers; only knowledge of CPU model is necessary). Coastercraze
As for laptops, I'd look into probably getting a Sony Vaio http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834127697
wabuf
Woo! Good call. I've been looking into getting a new one as well. Games are far out of reach on my 6 1/2 year old Compaq--though, it's payed for itself as a mobile audio editing rig. I've been split between something in this $600-800 range or just go all the way and get a top notch MacBook Pro which is somewhere around $1400. I've never owned anything Mac before so that's my main hesitation; then again, there's always Ubuntu!

Canga
Mac book pros are absolutely fantastic they run beautifully and have really neat features. We got ripped off a few years back when we bought an older version of a mac laptop it's battery was just broken... we bought the battery broken we returned the laptop we bought another mac laptop we bought the battery broken batteries are expensive already! the poor laptop never got to shine to its potential It has to be plugged in at all times so we just through into a family room... All laptop hopes were gone for mac *************************************************** But then on a glorious day the mac book pro was unleashed the world was stopped and everyone was glad! we saw the changes in mac. The retina the ram the memory the display nobody was ever mad. we saw the changes in mac and on a nice cold winter night. we saw the changes in mac we placed a CD in....wait WTF macbook Pro doesn't have a CD player FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU and that's why mac will find a way to screw you..... LOL jking cd players arn't as important and macs are amazing. MAC WHY U SO EXPENSIVE!
Shaw_ShankD
Wabuf once again thanks for your advice on making minecraft work on my PC. Unfortunately updating Java and manually searching for updates for my drivers. Tomorrow I will try your last suggestions and yet again post another reply as an update.
